Jane has been a resident of New Hampshire for 34 years. In her earlier years, Jane was a well-traveled opera singer who performed in Europe and the United States in leading operatic roles. Having performed with her husband, Carlos Martinez at Des Moines Metro Opera, Jane and Carlos were married in 1991. Jane and Carlos have two children, Catherine and Christopher and the entire family performs at different venues throughout the state. Together they worked in the non profit sector developing NH's first in state producing opera company called "OPERAFEST! of NH". They have also directed Lakes Region Opera and Just Love to Sing! in the non profit sector. In addition, Jane and Carlos teach music in the private and public school sectors in New Hampshire.
Deciding to jump onto the proverbial political stage in 2011, Jane primaried Rep. Peter Bolster for the NH House Belknap District 8 seat. After a substantial victory in the primary, she then went on to the General Election and was voted into the 2012 - 2014 NH House of Representatives. In addition to writing a weekly column for the Weirs Times, Jane has worked tirelessly, educating communities throughout NH on issues of local control, private property rights, and education reform. Jane is a tireless advocate for small, accountable government and considers herself a true Constitutional Conservative.
Jane looks forward to bringing fiscally conservative ideals to the NH State Senate in District 16. As she introduces herself, Jane is ready to take on the challenge of bringing her message of small government to the communities of Bow, Candia, Dunbarton, Hooksett, and Manchester. Though she won't necessarily be singing, Jane still plans on using her "voice" to champion common sense solutions to the challenges we face on the NH political stage!
