A NEW "VOICE" FOR SENATE DISTRICT 16
After moving to Hooksett for business/family reasons, it was unfortunately necessary to resign my seat in the NH House of Representatives. While I loved serving my constituents in Belknap District 8, commuting back and forth to Southern NH for our music business certainly was not sustainable. Making the decision to leave Alton was not easy to be sure. We have made so many wonderful friends, and met so many wonderful constituents. Making a move after 16 years is stressful and rather sad. But, time has a way of moving on, doesn't it?
Having spent much time traveling throughout NH on local control issues, it is clear I would still love to serve in some capacity. Thus, I have decided to run for the NH State Senate in District 16, serving the communities of Bow, Candia, Dunbarton, Hooksett and Wards 1, 2, and 12 of Manchester.
There are many reasons why I am looking at this possibility, the first of them being a deep concern of our government not listening to its people. Governmental overreach and taxes are on the rise in New Hampshire with Medicaid Expansion and the new Gas Tax. Regulation is strangling our small businesses and our state faces lower revenues and credit downgrading. The bigger the government, the smaller your voice! As a former opera singer and director, I am all about the VOICE! This time, however, the VOICE I am concerned with is YOURS!
The NH Senate has 24 people who hold a large responsibility in how New Hampshire moves ahead in 2015. It is crucial we have public servants - NOT POLITICIANS - stand for small governance, low taxes, and local control.
The time to stand is now. We need leaders with strong vision and strong "voices" to answer the challenges facing the Granite State. I look forward to exploring these possibilities with you. This is an exciting time to be sure!
Faithfully,
Honorable Jane Cormier
